Lynwood, Los Angeles County
Lynwood is named for Lynn Wood Sessions, whose husband ran a dairy here in the early 1900s, and it became a city in 1921. Its most familiar gathering place today is Plaza Mexico, a shopping center built to resemble a Mexican town square, complete with a kiosk, arcades and replicas of monuments. Festivals and concerts fill the plaza on holidays.
